Overview:
At Dorle Controls, we’re seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to ensure compliance with ISO 26262 and deliver safe, reliable automotive systems. This role involves hazard analysis (HARA), FTA, FMEDA, DFMEA, and the creation of functional/technical safety concepts across EE, hardware, and software. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in safety standards, system-level validation, and EE/SW integration, thriving in a fast-paced environment while ensuring innovative, future-ready vehicle performance.

Role and Responsibilities
- Overview of the roles and responsibilities of the Functional Safety Engineer are listed below for reference (scope to be adjusted further along the program development based on need).
- Define end-to-end EE architecture aligned with SDV principles (centralized compute, zonal control, high-speed data backbone).
- Translate feature and platform requirements into scalable and modular hardware/electrical architecture.
- Define power distribution and network topology (Ethernet, CAN-FD, LIN, FlexRay, PCIe).
- Architect partitioning of vehicle electronics into zonal or domain controllers (e.g., body, ADAS, chassis, infotainment).
- Drive consolidation strategies for ECUs, sensors, and actuators into intelligent controllers.
- Ensure hardware readiness for middleware, virtualization, and SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture).
- Define hardware/software interface (HSI) specs and enable OTA updates, diagnostics, and data telemetry via EE design
- Coordinate with system architects, software platform teams, product owners, and manufacturing to ensure design feasibility and system integration.
- Collaborate with stakeholders through system “V” development from concept to launch with design reviews and CFT.
- Domain/working knowledge of SW controls, EE, Electronics, and expertise in development, testing and validation methods of mechatronics systems.
Preferred experience and skills
- Masters in EE, Systems Engineering
- Extensive experience working with Automotive EE architectures (both Domain, Distributed) from Body, Infotainment, Drive or Energy.
- Strong understanding of 1st principles in Engineering, result/solution oriented
- Subject matter expert in Systems Engineering, Multi-domain physics, Complex systems design with EE, SW integration.
- Expertise with embedded, EE systems such as wiring and power distribution units.
- Familiarity with A2B, CAN, Automotive Ethernet, LIN, LVDS communication protocols and Vehicle Network tools, such as CANalyzer, CANoe, etc.
- Expertise with complex problem solving, data analysis, access/interpret/drive results with extended teams.
